Drowning Prevention
Starts with you
Last year drowning claimed over 1660 lives, that’s at least one person drowning every day. In an effort to avoid last year’s toll, Balanced Boat Alliance is calling on everyone to make water safety a priority by considering the risks and preparing before heading out.
Make Waves of Change.
We’re here to help everyone navigate the water safely through drowning prevention leadership, education and action. We want to bring a love of swimming and water safety education to more people in the community, especially those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate

Lives Not Numbers.
Every year, Balanced Boat Alliance produces a Drowning Report, examining the factors that contribute to drowning deaths in Uganda by examining who, where, when and how people have drowned in Ugandan waterways. We are always mindful that these stories in this report are of real people whose lives have been lost or impacted by drowning. We seek to advocate and collaborate to reduce the impact of drowning on the community.
Prepare for the Unexpected.
Balanced Boat Alliance sponsors and conducts community worskshops for the purpose of training Water Rescue and life guard Instructors for Public Safety and Rescue agencies throughout Uganda. Upon successful completion of the trainings, graduates are authorized as either Water Rescue or lifeguard instructors to conduct courses and certify their personnel at the Awareness, Operations and/or Technician level on behalf of their respective communities.

We believe that everyone has the power to make a difference. By volunteering, you join a passionate community working to prevent drowning and promote water safety across Uganda and Africa. You don’t need to be a swimming expert — whether you can teach, organize events, spread awareness, or simply lend a helping hand, your time matters. Volunteers play a vital role in teaching swimming, supporting community outreach, and helping us run life-saving programs. Every effort brings us closer to ensuring that more people feel safe and confident around water. Together, we can create lasting change and protect families from the heartbreak of preventable drowning. Join us today and be part of building a water-safe Africa
